Mr Nikos Koutsoukos has 25 years of experience in the food industry, with olives and olive oil being its primary area of expertise. Since 1994, he has been working as a Chemical Analyst and Quality Control expert in the chemical analysis of olive oil, wine and water in the Chemical and Oenological Laboratory “PETROS BOUFEAS” (Kalamata), one of the oldest and most famous laboratories of its kind in Greece.
Prior to that, in the years 1992-1994, he worked as Quality Control & Quality Assurance expert for the olive oil in “GREEK AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS”, one of the largest companies in Greece in the standardisation of olive oil, Mr Koutsoukos has also worked as a Chemical Analyst in the department of General Analysis and Quality Control of Materials Standards in the Greek Army Chemical Laboratory (1989-1990).
Besides his work experience, he has also participated in several important seminars on the matter, such as:
• Environmental issues (olive press waste and standardisation units), a 9-month training program organized by the Greek Agency for Local Development and Government (EETAA) in collaboration with the Municipality of Kalamata.
• 4-day International Olive Oil Tasting Seminar «CALIBRATING PANELISTS ‘MINDS AND PALATES» organized by the Olive Oil Tasting Laboratory of Technological Education Institute (TEI) of Kalamata. The seminar was attended by distinguished food tasters from Italy, Spain and the U.S.A.
• 2-day Olive Oil Tasting Seminar, organised by the Association of Greek Chemists.
• INTERNATIONAL OLIVE OIL SCHOOL (NEW YORK)

Mr Koutsoukos holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of Thessaloniki (1988) and a Master’s degree (MSc) in Adult Education from the Greek Open University (2008). He speaks and writes English and Italian fluently.
